I have two local hard drives (both cache enabled) and one hard disk on the ethernet. When I enable the cache for the hard disk on the network, it doesnt stay that way on a reboot. It disables itself on a reboot. And on the other hand, if i try to disable the cache for the two local drives, they automatically enable themselves on a reboot. Does someone have an idea of whats going on? and why ?

I appreciate your time and effort in advance.

It's probably due to data corruption being more likely with cache enabled and the drive being on a network. In Windows 2000 server, write cache is disabled automatically when you promote a windows 2000 server to a domain controller. This is due to the increased risk of data corruption caused by having cache enabled on the drive, especially in the event of a bad shutdown.
