Hi people,
Disaster today...i have 3 partitions c,d,e...W2K pro, W2K serv, WXP pro on these partitions respectively. Booted into w2k pro and was working when outlook froze so i decided to reboot my computer but got a blue screen saying 'inaccessible boot device'...safe mode doesnt work cause i get a list of multi(0) etc etc. I can still boot into w2k serv and xp, but cant go to c:\ both OS give a message that the drive is not formatted, would u like to do so now? :( Disk management shows C:\ as a healthy UNFORMATTED partition. Shucks, i have some important data on C:\...what has happened here??? someone pulleeeze come with with an idea so that i can atleast somehow get the date from there.....thanks in advance....

it could just be dead
you can try booting to the cd and running the repair, but running the recovery console, and running "fixmbr" and i think it's "fixboot" i know fixmbr is one, but i can't remember if it's fixboot or not
try those two
also, the multi(0) is normal for safe mode for 2k, and it does take like 3 times as long to boot to safe mode anyway

If you can't fix the problem, I suggest you get your precious data back with Lost And Found. http://www.softwareoasis.net/109.htm Once your data is saved on another drive, format your C drive and reinstall a fresh oprerating system on it. Windows 2000 Pro would my first choice. hehehe Good Luck!

Assuming that those partitions are not NTFS, what you can do to get your data back is boot your pc with a Windows 98 Startup disk, and then from the command prompt type the following path: Note: Assuming that the data you want is on the C drive, and the destination drive is empty or have enough space:
A:\xcopy c:\*.* /s /e D:
