Evenin lads and lassies
My mum's been having trouble with booting up her PC. I hope some people more knowledgable than me can help with this puzzler;
The computer starts normally, nothing out of the ordinary that I can tell but after the Windows logo and the little blue progress bar saying 'starting up, please wait' it flashes up a blue screen with somekind of message on it.
Now the msg is only on screen for a fraction of a second, I only managed to catch the words 'corrupt' and phrase 'dump of physical memory'
Following this the PC restarts the bootup sequence again. and again. and again. Each time the same message flashes up.
I know somethings causing the memory dump but I can't get into Safe Mode at all nor can I restart with the last known good config.
So I'm lost at what to do next.
Anyone able to help
Cheers

Try buting up with the windows 2000 cd and then run Reapair with the repair console. When you get to the command prompt typ chkdsk /r.

Man, wish I could do that but she doesn't have a Win2000 CD.
Thanks for the thought though mate.

You can try a friend's win2000 cd, just to run the chkdsk /r. Other than that, she will need to buy a new OS cd. Does she have a dell or gateway computer? If she does she would need to use on of the recovery cds that come with the system.

Thanks for the help guys, unfortunately we still have the problem.
I used a Cd to get into the repair console and ran chkdsk /r as suggested but when I rebooted the same problem occurs.
Is there something I'm supposed to do after chkdsk??
Thanks

I too have suffered that same issue and I have tried all that I can think of, and have asked around; me thinks its time for a new machine!!!
Lost One...more a state of mind than a location!
