Booting, but black screen

Dimension 2400. It seems to boot, if I hit Ctl-Alt-Del and type my password, the numlock light comes on, so I think it's logging into windows. But there's no screen, period, I can't even see the post screen or anything. What I did was try to upgrade the intel video driver, so I uninstalled it and then rebooted. So it looks like maybe windows wasn't able to load a generic driver?? What can I do. I've tried all the keys, f2, f5, f8, f12, nothing seems to work.

Drivers have nothing to do with POST. Any beeps? If at first you don't succeed, you're about average. M2
