I had this problem too a while back, basically I think it was a malicious script executed on a site i visited.
I was soon to reformat my machine anyway, so I never looked extnesively, however I did find out that information had probably been entered into the registry, but its just a case of finding.
Hopefully you will be able to find it, and also make sure you have a firewall installed. Also I installed a small utility called startup monitor which alerts you if anything attempts to register itself to start up with your machine and gives you rhe option of dissallowing it.
