Hello,

I have two Win2k installations on my HD. The HD is about 13 GB with 3 primary partitions and one extended.

1 NTFS 4.973 GB(active)
2 NTFS 2.047 GB (Not bootable)
3 Linux Swap 0.064 GB (Not used anymore)
4 Extended containing 1 Logical NTFS 6.016 GB

The orginal Win2k installation is on the extended partition. But I have problem booting it up after reinstalling Win98 on the first partition.

As you can see now, I've reformatted Win98 and installed Win2K (NFTS) on it.

My question is, how do I write the boot.ini file to display the old Win2k in the extended partition on the dual boot menu?

This current setup doesn't work.

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="WIN2K New"/fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(4)\WINNT="WIN2K Old"/fastdetect

Any helps are greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Best regards,

Vic

You can insert one or more lines into boot.ini as shown below and try:
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINNT="WIN2K Old 2"/fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(3)\WINNT="WIN2K Old 3"/fastdetect
I guess that your partition table has been re-arranged by new Windows installation. The former 4th partition may now become 2nd or 3rd one.
Good luck
