Hi,
After upgrading two IDE drives from basic to dynamic disks, Windows 2000 Server won't boot anymore. I tried Diskpart.exe, but this utility shows the boot disk (Maxtor 40GB) as unformatted and the secondary disk (Maxtor 80GB) as "inaccessible".
I also tried to repair this situation with the Windows 2000 Server CD-ROM, but it said the same as Diskpart. I thought it was safe to upgrade a basic disk to a dynamic disk, even if used to boot from?
Do any of you have any tips/suggestions? I'm all out of ideas...

Yes it is safe I do it all the time, by the sounds of it you have just been unlucky and something has been corrupted during the conversion. Can you boot using a Win2k Boot floppy? Or try fixboot in the recovery console. If the disks remain inaccessable you have little choice but to reinstall and restore from your backup (I'm sure you have a current backup!)
Summary: Problem solved When the conversion takes place. System and boot partitions are converted to dynamic volumes after the computer is restarted. All other partitions and basic volumes are converted immedi...
