I would like to know how to create a boot disk for my PC which will load and execute F-Prot DOS Virus Checker, install the virus definitions and scan my drives for viruses. A total of 4 Diskettes are required to store the F-prot software and the virus definitions

I would really appreciate some help with the development of the code for the boot disks.

Thanks in advance

You can use any CD-Rom Burning software that support make a BOOTABLE CD. Go through the process to make a bootable CD using the 4 F-prt Floppies as additional files on the bootable CD.

OR

goto http://bootdisk.com and check out the Anti Virus section, there is an F-prot Bootable floppy image (with old pattern). Just update the pattern. Make that a bootbale CD if needed and boot from CD.

pretty straight forward. may take a little customizing, since a CD Boots to A: but additional files are on what ever letter mscdex assigns it to.

You know, you could get fancy and make a ZIP disk or LS120 all 4 F-prot disk on 1 media. Then create a bootable CD-rom with the Zip or LS120 as the boot source. That would work too. Good Luck

thanks for your advise. I went to bootdisk.com to locate a bootdisk for F-Prot could not find a specific program that will accomplish what I would like to do.

I pefer not to burn it to CD since i would like to update the signature files as they become available.

Eventhough it requires 4 diskettes only 2 require updates.

I was wondering whether you have any further suggestions.

Thanks again for your advise

There should be a Link on the right of bootdisk.com that says Utilities. Then the Top headers says Antii-Virus.

Right there it says,
F-Prot 3.14b On A Floppy 01/27/04 and
def Up Dates.

You well have to manually update the Def to the floppy when ever new ones come out. If you want to change the Defs on a CDrom, then just use a CDRW.

Most if not all cdrom now a days well read a cdrw. good luck
