My Win2K laptop would not boot up. I am using a bootable floppy and I am getting invalid drive errors when I try to access C:. I am guessing this is due to the NTFS on my laptop. Is there anyways to get around this? Thanks, ltl

Normally, NTFS is totally unavailabe to Win98. There is a program from Sysinternals which may help you.
Check it out here Sysinternals

If you have: 1)a windows 2000 CD 2) an internal CD-Rom that is bootable
you can set the BIOS to detect CD-ROM first, and boot from the W2000 disk to either repair or reinstall.Alternately, you can make a 4-floppy boot disk set, if you have access to another PC with CD-ROM unit, by putting in your W2000 CD and executing the following command (assume the CD-ROM is G: drive):
G:>\bootdisk\makeboot A:
This Emergency Recovery Interface (password acessible) will allow you to do very limited things on NTFS or FAT32 formatted disk, such as examine the hard drive, to copy, move, or erase files. If you have internal CD-ROM, it will also provide driver support for a reinstall.
Notice, both methods of recovery described here, hinge on your having an internal CD-ROM unit.
