Did you reinstall Windows, or are you trying to run your previous installation with the new hardware? Because that isn't going to work.

You will have to install Windows clean after you install your new motherboard and CPU.

There are a few fudges around that seem to work in this situation (sometimes)...

I would be very surprised (and mildly impressed) if any of those fudges could convert a 32-bit kernel to a 64-bit kernel.

Good point... but then there were offered as fudges that apppear to work in some situations (not necessarily all). Almost certainly you are into a re-install - one way or another...?

Probably. There is definitely a geek++ factor to making it work without reinstalling, but the slacker in me glazes over about halfway down that webpage. Given the choice, I'd just reinstall. That's not necessarily a recommendation, just my opinion.

Inclined to agree; a re-install would probably the easier option. A parallel install would be one possible approach as it would/should avoid the need to reformat etc... and thus preserve data? The previous installation could be deleted later from within the new one. (It would be wise to ensure name of parallel version is distinctly different from the original - makes i/d'ing each version easier?)

okay i have a similar problem...

i just installed a new mobtherboard and cpu, and i am getting the stop blue screen...

so i need to reinstall windows? will this delete all of my data?

also i am dual booting mandrake linux 9.2...

one thing that doesnt make sense to me, is that ive tried other hard drives i have sitting around, and they boot perfectly fine...so why is it that just this one hard drive isnt working?
