OS: win2k pro/win98
CPU/Ram: ?/256
Comment:

I have a dual boot win 2k pro and win 98. I had a problem with the floppy drive (neither os would read it), so I attempted to remove and reinstall it in win2k. I went into device manager and removed the floppy disk. When I rebooted into win2k, I got the blue screen of death with the following message:
"stop: 0x0000007b (0xed41b84c, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
inaccessible_boot_device if this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps.
check for viruses on your computer. Remove any newly installed hard drive. run chkdsk/f for hard drive corruption."
I followed the above instructions, but I still get the blue screen with the same message. I changed the boot order in the cmos and made the hard drive the first boot option, hoping it would boot up prior to attempting to read the floppy drive. But I still get the same result. Since then, I replaced the floppy drive and now win98 recognizes the floppy drive. But I still can't get win2k to boot up fully.
Any suggestions?

Two things you can try.

Remove any USB devices and or connections to a network. (Sounds strange but I've just resolved the same issue have to boot 2k then connect my USB hub)

Or boot in safe mode uninstall floppy driver reboot and see what 2k does then

Thanks Spinnz. I'll try your first suggestion. As for the second, forgot to mention that I couldn't boot into the safe mode either in win2k.

No go with the first suggestion either. Looks like I'll just have to reinstall win2k.
