Subject: Black screen after startup
OS: windows 2000 professional
CPU/Ram: P3/256

Whenever I load up windows it will go through all of the load up but when windows is supposed to show up I get a black screen. I can still hear all of the sounds, but I cant see anything. Its on an IBM thinkpad if thats any help. PLEASE POST I NEED THIS LAPTOP FOR SCHOOL.

The problem could be the result of a bad setting in the screen display settings. Is this an old laptop? Screen size? Possible Fix: bootup in safemode and switch the screen display settings to a lower resolution. other than that i am clueless....
