Trying to update the bios with the latest version of @BIOS. Every time I run the program it says that the program has generated errors and refuses to run. I tried a very early version but that will not find any of the updates off any server. I could use the DOS facility but cannot decide on which file is needed. The board is GA-7ZX Rev 1.01. Now is that the same as 1.0 or is it 1.xx?? Any help much appreciated

Common sense would suggest you go for 1.xx.

AMD Athlon XP 1.8GHz
1GB RAM
120GB HDD SATA
GeForce 4 Ti4600 128MB
Nvidia nforce2 chipset w/ soundstorm
Pioneer DVD/RW
ABIT NF-7S Rev 2 Motherboard

are you trying to correct a specific update by updating you bios or is this an update for the sake of updating? If the later, leave it alone as you can really hose your system if it fails

Ya know what? Sometimes it really helpls looking for a web site of the company that made your equipment.

You sure this is not a GA-7ZXE motherboard???

If it is - go here :

Thanks all for your help. It turned out to be rev 1.xx as suggested but I think the rev 1.0 may be the same! Yes I did look on the manufactures web site!! It is a GA-7ZX not GA-7ZXE. No idea why the windows update software did not work. All working fine now after update with DOS version. I know that updating can be dangerous. I have updated 2 other computers which had problems belonging to me and a member of my family and they work well after updating. Yes please move this to the hardware forum.
