Pls i need to know how i can reset the bios of my sotec laptop. What actually happened was that, early this year, whenever i switch the laptop on,it hangs at the brand name'SOTEC' and doesn't boot,it just hangs.Later my laptop engineer told me that my processor(intel celeron 700mhz) was damaged. So since i didn't have much,i kept it for about five months without switching it on.When i switched it on,it doesn't show anything, not even the brand name it was formally showing. So can you please help me?

I don't know about the processor being damaged. Your laptop may well have some type of hardware failure or could just be software.

When you first turn on the laptop do you see any text screens prior to the splash screen you mention?

I am not convinced that clearing the CMOS will help with your problem but if your laptop is old enough the program below may help. You need to create a boot floppy or CD that also contains killcmos.
