Are you booting to the Win 2K CD, partitioning and formatting, and then completing the installation? At what point do you receive the error?

Life's more painless for the brainless.

So you partitioned and formatted....
... after that did you boot-up with the CD and install win2k ??

... if you hav'nt please try to.

... if you used a floppy to format and you wish to boot up with CDROM as pc starts up keep tapping F8 key to enter the bios
... select CDROM as first bootup option and
save the setting exiting bios.
... boot-up off CD and install win2k.

... OR have you installed win2k and you are now getting i/o error?
... is the date OK in the bios? can you save settings?
... NO... sounds like the cmos battery might need changing as it controls bios
in/out settings.

You erased all the data from the HDD. What do you expect to boot up to if you don't have an operating system installed?
