Comment: My computer was having problems so I sent it out to get fixed, and have the guys put Windows XP on it. They decided not to, said they cleaned it up, sent me back the computer, and built me a new one. But anyway, my old computer, the Windows 2000, is supposed to be good for typing, etc. But now when I start it up, it does the whole start up screen thing, then it says "BIOS not installed" then in comes up with a screen that says "Operating System not found" and whatever I type in, it keeps repeating that message. I don't want to waste this computer by throwing it away. Does anyone know what I should do?

Reply: (edit)"They decided not to, said they cleaned it up, sent me back the computer, and built me a new one." Did they say that the new one was built using all the parts from the old one? Bryan

Reply: (edit)that message is from a scsi bios not the mainboard bios. This indicates a scsi drive is not present. It would also indicate if you have a ide drive that either its not detected or there is no OS to load. Sounds like they "cleaned" the system by removing the drive. Start by going into the bios and see if there is a drive. If so proceed to install a OS on it. Help can be found here or on the internet Give a person a fish you feed them for a day. Ask a person to internet search and they learn a skill for a lifetime.

Reply: (edit)Take it back and have it fixed they must of taken the old drive out and put it in the new computer. If they said they were giving you a new computer it would mean all new parts. Also if they said it was ALL NEW and it is not they are violating law where I live.
