When I was using my computer, suddenly my Norton Antivirus 2002 Auto-Protect popped a message saying I was infected by the Backdoor.IRC.Cloner virus.

It made this log:

It didn't clean those files or delete them or quaritine them at all. I scanned my whole computer and those files several times and Norton didn't detect them as virus infected anymore!

I really want to fix/delete those and get rid of the virus, but obviously Norton won't detect that virus anymore from those files.

I read all about this virus in the virus encyclopedia at the Norton webpage. I have no clue why I got the virus ( i dont use IRC). Does anyone know why?

I went to safe mode and scanned and still nothing, even though those files are still there.

Later I found it "SHARED" the folder: C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\; after finding this out, i made the folder "Do not share this folder" and hastily deleted the whole a103 folder containing files called: kill.exe, abc.dll, reg3.ocx etc. etc.

I want to rid my computer of the Backdoor.IRC.Cloner virus and I want to know why I have this virus even though I dont even use IRC.

Any suggestions?

Can't say how you received the virus or why Norton may be failing its duty....

go here for an on-line scan of your system for any/all virus.. at least, you will know if you are no longer infected.
