Have you tried the EZ-BIOS software package that came with your hard drive if it is a Maxtor? If you do this, you should not have to flash your BIOS. If you do flash your BIOS, make sure to make a backup image of it befor you do it, because if your BISO improperly flashed, you will end up having to either change out the ROM chip, or replace your motherboard. If your motherboard manufacuter is DFI, getting BIOS upgrades are very easy. just go to http://www.dfi.com and get it there.

Who manufactures your motherboard? If you go to the manufacturer's site, and click on support, you should see a section labled "updates" or somthing to that effect. After you are in the updates section, you need to search the site for the BIOS flash that you need. You would propably have better luck on your manufacturer's FTP site.
