Whenever I insert a CD in my CD-ROM, I see - or rather DON'T see - some thing that bother me:
1. The CD icon doesn't change. Example: When I insert my Black & White CD, the CD icon should change into a Black & White icon, but it doesn't.
2. No autoplay. Not on game or music CD, not anywhere
3. In some games I can't hear the background music. I think this is related to the above problems, although I could be wrong.
Thanks in advance for your help!

open my computer, right clock on CDROM/
left click on PROPERTIES/HARDWARE/CDROM or CDRW and choose properties. try enabling Digital audio playback. (I think this only works on CDRW and DVD drives.)

W2k will attempt to auto play any CD unless you press and hold the shift key during disk insertion. If a game for instance doesn't auto start could be it needs some manual start via a shortcut created during installation.

As far as not hearing some games, check to see if there is an audio jumper between the CD drive and your motherboard or sound card. Some games use the sound card to generate sound, others play the sound directly from the CD.
