Auto hide toolbar at top disappears

I have an auto hide tool bar at the top of my wallpaper. For the last couple days it totally disappears on me like it was never there and I need to make a new one. The only change to the computer lately was updating the sound card drivers. I have checked that file and my whole computer for viruses, trojans, spyware, etc. and it is clean. Any ideas of what can be going on?
