trying to restore a deleted user and all of their files. not sure of the syntax to use at the Authoritative Restore prompt:
This is a stand-alone computer

Authoritative restore is for restoring Active Directory. You need to restore the files from backup.

If this is not a ad server and unless you also deleted the user folder their data is still there. Just deleting the user doesn't delete their home folder. Have you logged in as admin and looked under documents and settings?

Was the account removed, including the profile? Were the files stored under the users profile? Was there a backup done locally? A little more information would be good.
