Audio Sounds Like Chipmunks

CPU/Ram: p4/523,280 kb ram
Product: dell optiplex gx240

I have a dell optiplex gx240 running windows 2000 pro, containing a AC'97 Sound Card. All my audio sounds like talking or singing chipmunks -- it's so anoying. How do I correct this? Please help

I didn't reinstall but I did disable the device then restart it.

yes but not from re-starting
i did some extensive searching and found a
website with driver updates for the ac'97 sound card
alvin & the chipmunks have been evicted!!!!

I am no computer person I had the same problem with my pc audio sounded like chipmunks.I am running Vista with Realtek high definition audio driver. I have just two speakers I deleted the Realtek & went on line & downloaded free up-dated audio driver for my pc & it worked right after the download hope this helps
