I can't hear any sound when a CD is being played.
Here is the info of my system:
*BIOS Version: EA81520A.86A
*Motherboard Model Number
Genuine Intel D815EEA2 System BoardHere are the details of the problem:
*In the Device Manager Window, there is an exclamation mark before "Multimedia Audio Controller". Its property says "Not configured correctly (code 1).*I can't hear the sound when a CD is being played.
* When I install RealOne Player ( a free Medial Play Software), the error message is "Cannot open the audio device"
*I tried to install the driver from the bundled CD provided by Intel, the "Analog Devices SoundMAX Digital audio" component always failed. The system couldn't find any driver file on the CD.
What might have caused the problem? Any expert can give me some tips? Thanks in advance!

try removing the audio controller from the device manage . Then refresh the device manager or simplay reboot your system.
At startup the system must automatically configure the device or must ask you for the driver disk.
At the point you must select "search in a location" (not exact term) and browse to the location where your drivers are.
windows should now be able to configure the device properly.

There also may be an application on the CD that will install the drivers and associated software. Browse the instructions on the cd.

Thanks for your suggestions. I tried both as you advised. But it still does not work. When I install the "Analog Devices SoundMAX Digital audio", it says " component installation failure". Device manager says it can't locate driver file from my CD.

well you might be just asking the windows installer program to look in your cd i.e
you E or F drive. But you need to specify the exact folder where the driver file is located. If you are specifying the correct location and you are using correct drivers then there is either a problem with you hardware or operating system.
By the way does the problem occur only when you are playing from CD or does it occur even if you are playing from hard drive.
If problem occurs only with cd audio then the CD drive may be bad or you may not have
connected you CD drive to you sound card properly.
