My Name is Zulmahdi, I need your advised for my problem
Last month i bought PC with specification :
Mainboard : ECS K785A
Processor : Athlon XP 1800 MHz
Memory : 256 SDRam ( 2 pcs pc133 )
Hardisk : 40 GB / 5400 rpm
VGA 64 MB : GF2 MX 400
Flopy Disk
CD RW 40x12x48
Modem 56 k
When I started PC in dialog box imfrom that speed is
1100 Mhz (I loosed speed 700 MHz, Why ?). BIOS Setting for CPU Clock/speed 100/100.
When I change CPU Clock/speed to 133/133, dialog box imfrom that current speed is 1550
then windows was halted ( I use Win 2000 Prof )I try again and windows still halted then i setting back to 100/100
How can I have real speed of XP 1800? Why XP 1800 is very hot & Noise?Thank for your help & advised
Zulmahdi

On an Athlon XP 1800, the 1800 doesn't refer to the speed it is a model number. The speed of 1800 is supposed to be 1.53Ghz. The only reason I can think of for your system halting, is that your memory doesn't support a bus speed of 133Mhz? Try 100Mhz x 15 to achive the right CPU speed.
Or, you don't have enough cooling in your system. Try a new CPU or system fan.

I had the same problem, when i changed the clock speed to 133 to get the 1.53Ghz the comp would just start to boot up and then shut down and start backup again.what i did was clear the cmos memory on the board and it started right up at the 1.53Ghz speed.i have never had a problem with it since.worked for me,hope this helps.also regard the post above, you need good cooling for AMD CPU'S.
