What you are going to need to do is after you install the network printer, open the properties up and select capture printer port. This will allow you to print from DOS programs. There should be an option to do this when you install the network printer using microsofts printer install program (control panel -> printers -> add new printer). Hope this helps.

From a command prompt, type in the following:
net use lpt1: \\servername\queuename /persistent:yes
The persistent switch is optional, but for the printer to remain mapped after the machine is rebooted, it is necessary.

Hi guys.
How do I assign printer in Group Policy from the DC?
And...
I am not able to find these things in GP in DC to publish printers to new users: "Automatically publish new printers in Active Directory" AND "Allow printers to be published" - it should be in GP configuration settings.
"When you add a printer using the Add Printer wizard and select to share the printer, the printer is also set to be published by default. The Group Policy setting Automatically publish new printers in Active Directory, when disabled, prevents the Add Printer wizard from automatically publishing shared printers.
In addition, the Group Policy setting Allow printers to be published must be enabled (default) for printers to be published on that computer.
