I have just recently re-formatted and I did a clean install of Win2k Pro. I try to run CDRWin though and it tells me:
"Error: Unable to initialize the ASPI manager. ASPI support information was not found"
So I try and get the ASPI drivers. I install them and my computer still can't use CDRWin (as well as Nero and Discjuggler). I go to the Adaptec site and find nothing useful for Win2k there and decide to download the aspichk.exe. It tells me all my drivers are v4.60 and also:
"ASPI is properly installed, but one of the helper drivers has failed to initialize"
WILL SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME THIS IS DRIVING ME CRAZY!?

i looked on the adaptec site for the link to the aspi drivers, but couldnt find it, (apparently they recently merged with roxio and removed all their drivers)
so i emailed the 2k drivers to you, i had to install these, because i was getting the same errors. Disk Juggler and Nero work great now.
happy burning

i've been thru this, try :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\AspiXNT\Parameters
If ExcludeMiniports="" then ATAPI devices are enabled.
If ExcludeMiniports="ATAPI", then ATAPI devices are disabled.
since you have to enable ATAPI, delete "ATAPI" from the key and now things should work.

if regal's solution doesn't work for you i'd recommend getting the aspi file directly from the nero site. my experience has been best with the one they provide on their site for win2k. go to http://www.ahead.de and to the download page and search for "windows 2000" and there's a little section there about the ASPI dll for win2k
hope this helps

This happened to me too...I got the LSI Logic ASPI drivers from GoldenHawk's site (not sure if these were the ones that you installed or not). CDRWin and WinonCD work like a charm now. Don't forget to do the step that Guurav mentioned above. Hope this helps.
