arcsetup.exe and arcldr.exe

Original Message

Subject: arcsetup.exe and arcldr.exe
OS: Win2k Pro SP4
CPU/Ram: P4 / 512
Comment:
In you've installed, or tried to install, SP4 to your Win2k platform, you will find some "left over" (?) files in your C:\ root folder:

arcsetup.exe -- 160kb
arcldr.exe -- 147kb

Anyone have an idea what these are and, more importantly, can I delete them? I -did- rename them, just to see if any application reported an error .. but nothing has happened in nearly 6 months.

Thank you.

It's not part of Windows, hackers are using your machine for a game server. I think. I'm still getting to the bottom of it, but you can check out the link below (or google arcsetup.exe for yourself).

These files are used when you activate the options "Windows Recovery Console" at boot time.
