I was having Windows 98. But due to my work in IIS, I installed the Windows 2k Prof. as the second O.S. I installed few softwares, which includes SQL Server 7.0, Visual Basic 6.0 and a music Software Winamp. Now whenever i opened the Add/remove applet, it just opened for a moment and then disappears. This happens for the SQL Server's MMC & Visual basic also. Whenever i open the SQL Server or visual basic it just appear for a while & then disappears. I tried the System file checker(SFC) utility for this, but nothing happens. Then at last I format that partition & install the fresh copy of Windows 2000 Prof. But the problem continues. Please help me in this regard. How to Solve this problem ??????

Had similar problems within certain apps wherein 3rd or 4th level applets gave the infamous "File Could Not Be Found" screen and in CUSeeMe ver 5, applet windows opened for one second only, then closed. Got help from MS (Users allowed 2 free email help sessions per new installation). After about 2 weeks of emails back/forth, I had a corrupted 'user profile'. Since this is my desktop and I am only user, I run under administrator. MS had me create a new user, save email (Outlook Express) messages and address book in folder under new user, and move administrator folder in C:\documents and settings to backup user's folder. Then, rebooting causes Win 2K to create a new administrator user under the administrator's documents and settings. Then, copy/move email messages, address book, favorites, my documents, desktop, and start menu to rebuilt administrator users profiles (administrator's 'documents and settings' folder.

This fixed my problems completely. I have no idea how my profile got corrupted to begin with.
