I have written some perl programs which use ANSI.SYS escape sequences to position the cursor and colour the screen. This worked fine under Windows'98 but, now that I've loaded W2K, I can't get it to work any more. I have managed to get the MSDOS prompt to recognise the ANSI sequences but, when I run my perl program, I just get the escape seqences printed. Can anyone explain why or offer help please.

I don't know an answer, but I am having a similar problem with a program used in dos mode. It worked in 98 but in 2000 and up command.com is no longer called, and therefore device=ansi.sys is not batched.

You have to Edit C:\WinNT\System32\config.nt file. That is where you type Device=%SystemRoot%\system32\ansi.sys.
