Hi my computer has an Amd k62 -500 cpu with a Gigabyte atx ss7 ver3 board. Every time I try to install win2k on this box it crashes! and I don't know why. When I call the guys where I bought the board off of he says he dosn't know what is wrong. What happens is during the seconed reboot of the install it shuts the power off to the case. But I can still see the numlock light on on my keyboard. Can some one please email me about the problem if he/she has a souloution Thank you in advanced.

Check the little 115v or 230v voltage switch on the back of your pc and make sure it is set properly. You probably need to set it to 115v if it is not. Sound like a power issue to me.

Try switching of write back cache in bios (if possible) or try installing using FAT rather than NTFS.. I had a machine which repeatedly failed with NTFS... still a mystery !

This is a driver issue: Download the latest mobo & video card drivers. Sometimes I install win 98 first & then upgrade to Win 2000 rather than doing a clean install - that way you will get a hardware compatability report.
