I have a problem that involves the installation of programs. I would like to articulate this as best as possible so please bear with me.

-The workstation is running W2KPro
-It is part of an NT4 domain
-On the NT4 server, the domain user has the rights assigned:
Domain User
Administrators
-On the W2KPro workstation, the user has the rights assigned in 'Local Users and Grups':
Administrators
Power Users

When I try to install Quickbooks under the administrator's username, it works fine.

When I install the program under the domain user's name while logged in locally to the workstation, it works fine.

When i try to install under the domain user's name while logged into the domain, it tells me my account was created with restrictions and to contact my systems administrator.

i can run the program while logged into the domain as long as I hold the shift key and right click the icon for quickbooks. then it allows me to run the program under the administrator's username and password for the domain.

i don't know what other rights i can assign this user....DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT'S GOING ON????? HELLLLPPPP!!!

The problem is with quickbooks. You'll need a newer version or update of quickbooks for W2K. It has to do with the different way that permissions and security is setup on Win2K.

I've run into similar problems with older programs not being allowed to run when the user did not have full administrative rights to the machine.

Hi,

I had this problem a while back. What you have to do is make sure that the users domain user name is added to the computers local administrator group. Open the local admin group, select "add", choose the proper domain from the box that opens up next, and finally pick the users name to be added. You should be all set then.
