I logged in as Administrator, and went to get the properties of my network places and I get the following error...
"You do not have permission to open the Network and Dial-up Connections folder"
I'm the Adm, I do not understand, Please help me so I can set up my dsl

Is it possible that the userID "Administrator" no longer has administrative privileges? It sounds like the privileges got changed somehow. You'll need to try logging on with an ID that does have such privileges so that you can change the administrative privileges of "Administrator"

Your problem is not going to be a easy fix.....Unless you can get into User Id and passwords.....if you cant get in your going to have to format and reinstall. The default Adminstrator is a fixed user....I dont know how that was changed, unless someone intentionally did something. You want to be careful how you set up user id's and access rights. If you on a dsl connection its best to log in as someone other than admin...because if someone breaks into your computer while your logged on as administrator they have full access rights. Thats why most Linux users dont log in as root of the OS.
But if your going to log in as another user....keep in mind with Windows 2000 each user has his own desktop and application settings.
I personally log in as Administrator.....because its more convienent....so I run a firewall to keep access to my computer down.

When you set permissions watch very carefully when you set a deny.if you deny everyone then you deny the admin as well A deny overrides all allows and seeing as everyone includes the admin a deny removes admin rights. You can usually go back in as admin and remove the deny.If you can get in to reset it and you want to set up so only a few users can get the use of a folder or resource then give the permissions to who you want then remove the ones you dont want using them. For example allow the admin and remove everyone.
