Hi, thanks for reading my question!I am using win2k sp3.
Having installed SP3 a few months ago, a couple of system files could not be updated near the end of the sp3 install process. I cant remember which files they were but one may have been ntldr I think. I restarted the pc as instructed anyway...
After a reboot everything works ok, but whenever I try to install new hardware by using control panel/add new hardware icon, I get the following error:
"You do not have sufficient security privileges to install devices on this computer. Please contact your site administrator or log out & log in again as an administrator and try again"
The username I use to log onto windows is in the administrator group, but even if I log on with the administrator account, the problem remains.
All other files and programs work ok.
I darent reinstall any further service packs until this problem is resolved.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
trixy

make sure your service pack is causing you trouble; test it out by going into safe mode then deleting the service pack - see what happens from there
