Additional domain controller

CPU/Ram: 256

When ever i try to create additional domain controller so my system will act as a backup domain controller it gives an error that enter username and password and when ever i provide user name of administrator it provides me error that user can not be authenticated

set the local administrator password to be the same as the domain administrator password.

Windows 2000 has only one Domain Controller. There are no PDC/BDC as in NT.

I think I am going to give up on that battle Jennifer. Even 5 years later with AD they still talk pdc/bdc... oh well

Thanks wanderer but there is no local administrator in domain controller. and i have to created addional domain controller and i m having some problems when ever i try to run dcpromo on my machine it run for a while and than ask for administrator name and password which doesnt work

Ya in windows 2000 ,there is no pdc/bdc concept.its multimaster replication ,with all dc's replicating the data.

Use the administrator/password,whcih u use for logging into ur original dc.

Check ur dns server ,ur client ip settings .....
