Guys
I have IE5.5 SP2 complete on a CD. I am trying to install specific components on a WIN2K machine (SP2) and i am having problems.
I need to make sure the followng components are added with IE5.5 SP2.
1. Microsoft Virtual Machine
2. IE Browsing enhancementsThis is for something at work.
Normally on NT when you doubleclick the IE setup.exe you get a choice of Minimal installation and you can then check what options you want, on 2k no such option is available, so I can either add it after or assume that it has installed everything.
So I install it anyway as I dont have a chice of minimal install !
I dont like the idea of assuming that all options have been installed so on the win2k machine I goto add remove programs, check IE and click change remove button to which I get the following message displayed :-
See attached image
Now how the hell do I check that my components have already been added ?I am logged on as a administrator ?
Any ideas...this is driving me mad !
Any help appreciated

There are many "flavors" of IE available. Each ISP for instance can create its own version with its own setup behaviour.
Your CD apparently is not an fficial Microsoft CD, so it's probably a "branded" version of IE.
To build your own IE with the options exacly the way you like it, download the Internet Explorer Administration Kit (IEAK).

just go on microshaft oops. microsoft.com and search for your selected file. microsoft had to remove VM due to a court case thats why it might not work. in saying this i had no problems installing all my windows 2000 updates. after the fifth attempt? hahahaha.
