I am having a problem where Active Directory Users and Computers works fine for awhile but then displays the message "Naming Information not available on ahdev. The server is not operational." Then I open up a command prompt and type "ipconfig /release" then "ipconfig /renew" and go back to AD Users and Compueter and it works. Any ideas? It's starting to get really annoying. Thanks in advance!!

Sounds like you need to check your Event Viewer and your network settings.....

Alot of u might have experienced this. Except the temp solution that the command prompt provides or by restaring the additonal domain controllel, I ve eliminated this by not installing the service pack 2 on the addtiotional DCs. Since then I had no problem but used only the Web Updates for being ok. I hope SRV3 will fix this. I heard another rumor that if u use DC Promo 1st and then use the SRV2 its working but not in my case. If u want to keep all your settings and go back to original setup (without SRVs) insert the CDROM and run the update setup on your server. It will remove the SRV pack u ve installed and have your DC and Active Dir up and running with no "Active Directory - Server is Not Operational" error. I hope this helps till they fix this or come up with a specific configuration.

Now according to MS ...The following 4 reasons are the cause. BUT if u do have MS Proxy Client installed that is the main cause!!! U have to remove it and do some changes and also upgrade to ICS. Here are the articles...
