active directory ip change

Comment:
We need to change the ip address of our active directory server, its running exchange and active directory. I assume the best way to do this is by deleting the DNS Zone for the domain and then re creating it ? then it will replace itself with the new ip. I am aware I will need to create forward and reverse lookups after this.

There really isn't an 'AD server' so to speak - there are domain controllers (DCs).
If you want to change the IP of the DC why would you need to delete the DNS zone? Just change the IP of the server. Once you do that you can re-register the IP of the server in DNS by typing IPCONFIG /REGISTERDNS.
You may also want to change the preferred DNS server in the properties of IP to the new address of the server assuming this server is also the DNS server.
I think you misunderstand the zones. There is no need to delete all the zones. You are basically just changing a host record unless I'm misunderstanding you.
