if you have active directory integrated DNS, do you still have to worry about adding zones and configuring zone properties?

The first one, yes. You'll need to set up a
Forward zone and a reverse zone if you want one. The others on subsequent DCs if you install them, will be automatically replicated and therefore automatically configured.

glen,

if one sets up AD integrated DNS, does that mean that DC is then unofficially a DNS server as well? in other words, DNS and AD are truly "integrated"? if they are integrated, then you can add a new zone from any DC and it replicates out through domain automatically and communisitically?

Billy, The DC will not be a DNS server unless DNS is installed on that server. In other words you can be a DC without running DNS. However if DNS is installed on all DCs and it is AD Integrated, then yes, a zone created on one DNS server will automatically be replicated to the others. The time that replication takes depends on your set up - Sites, Site Links, Costs, Replication Schedule etc.
