I have been using my computer for about 3 years now without having any unsolvable problem until lately. I booted my system and I get this 'ACPI compliant' blue screen in Win 2000. Haven't changed any of my hardware however I booted in safemode and switched to standard pc. All went fine but then i couldn't load my sound card (SBLive!). The day after I switched back to ACPI. It worked fine for the first 4 reboots (but without the SoundCard working) and then all went bonkers again. Only thing i could recall doing recently was installing an Alcatel ST530 ADSL modem through the USB port. Any help please? would love to get ACPI and SBLive! to work again.

I would recommend backing up your data and reinstalling Windows 2000. Win2K is very sensitive about changes to the ACPI settings. I've seen this problem several times before. This also can occur if you disable/enable the "ACPI-Aware OS" setting in BIOS. Once the problem exists, I have not found a way to repair it apart from reinstalling Windows 2000.
