To my knowledge that is not something which you'd want to do...
If you're looking for cross-compatibility of documents, you should probably install the latest Office release (XP I believe) and make sure to select the text / document add-ins which will let you open the other versions' documents.
Office digs its "hooks" into so many parts of a system that it's playing with fire to attempt what you're suggesting.
