My system suddenly won't boot. Receive error message that ntoskrnl.exe is corrupt or missing. Upon pressing F10 I get a setup utility but no access to anything to change clock.
Would love it if there were a place to chat real time to make all of this faster but any/all replies will be much appreciated!
I'm not totally comp. illiterate but I'm not a brilliant sysytem op either.

Your problem has nothing to do with BIOS settings.

ok. So how do I get to where I can edit the boot.ini file? My system won't let me even boot in safe mode; I get the Compaq splash screen, a SCSI message (been there for years now and sys worked fin) and then gives error message that boot.ini is invalid and sys is loading from C:\winnt. Then I get the message, "Win2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:<windows 2000 root>\system32\ntoskrnl.exe. Please re-install a copy of the above file".

Have you tried Last Known Good Configuration?

Yep. I've tried safe mode, last good config, everything. I've even tried with my cd in the drive to re-install the file but the drive never starts.

I'm hoping someone can help. I'm capable of following directions to a 'T' and will not blame someone who is honestly trying to help me.
Please, anybody have any ideas?
