im trying to make my computer to be accessable by others on my network. i did it before, but then i reformatted, and cant figure it out. what i thought i did was in the LAN proporties, i installed a "client for microsoft networks" then i could just put // $ and it would ask me for my user name and password, but it doesnt work.

This is for a workgroup environment, but the only difference (compared to domain) is that you would add domain users and have to have local admin rights to assign other domain users access. Also this presumes NTFS as your default Hard Drive file system. Good Luck
