I have a dual boot system (98/2000pro). I have a p4 1.9, Gigabyte GA8IGX. I had 256mbDDR pc2100 and all was well. I got another stick of 256DDR pc2100 so that I would have 512mb in total. Neither system will boot with both sticks in. The operating systems will boot with either stick on their own. When win 2000 tries to boot, it gets past the win2000 screen where the little bars go accross the bottom of the screen, but then a blue screen with white writing appears that has s**t loads of possible errors on it.

Any Ideas?

Thanks

It looks like the memory sticks don´t get along very well. Have you checked their bus speeds are the same?. If they are different, try looking into the BIOS (or a jumper in the motherboard) for an option to force both sticks to work at the speed of the slowest of them.

Hope this helps!

Both ram sticks are pc2100. One is (i think) "team" brand the other is "PQI" brand. Any other feedback or suggestions would be great. Thanks

To rule out a bad slot possibility, I´d suggest you place the older stick in the slot where you are placing the new one and see how the computer behaves.

Hi Andy,

Thanks, I have tried all possible combinations with the two sticks.

I've found that the brand of 2100 isn't as important as having the exact same "chip set" on the sticks. I make sure that all of my 2100 & 2700 Ram are "Samsung". I've never had a compatability problem in either system!
