I installed win2k on my gateway solo 2300 laptop (P266, 128RAM) wihout trouble except my 3com/Megahertz XJEM 3336 PC Card Modem/LAN (listed as compatible on microsoft's site)is recognized as a standard PCMCIA card modem not as a LAN. Old Win9x driver tricks like removing the microsoft driver and reinstalling the manufacturer version don't work because only win2k has the driver (not 3com)and that is buried in the software. I use the LAN function of the card around 99% of the time and would like to restore it. Any ideas>

I have a very similar problem with my 3cfx575bt PCMCIA LAN card. It says something like the card did not start. I am going to e-mail or call 3com one of these days, since they offer free tech support for the life of their products. Now that Microsoft has shipped Windows 2000, I think that they should have some sort of working drivers for these cards.
If not, at this website: http://www.3com.com/client/mcd/products/
at the bottom there is a quote that the cards are Guaranteed Compatible with your system (Windows 2000).
