Comment: seeing as a simple setup of 2k pro is becoming a hassle i have seeked advice or info on its process from the paul thurrote guide http://www.winsupersite.com/showcas... looking at fig 1 on the site it wants dos but i imagine dos in on all Hds starting from step 1 it hasnt asked me for for the location of the files prob because ime running from cd its gone strait to fig 3 now left it to run setup files fig 4 i get to fig 5 ok then here is where it goes belly up 4 me. asks if i want to format the drive yes to ntfs leave it to do then it automatically runs the setup files need for install ok then it restarts when i go install it after agreeing to the eula becuase it ran setup files prior to this point it warns me that \winit folder already exists. so i say ok wipe over tht and install it installls ok leave it to restart then back to setting up dont get near the gui part in fig 14 so i go on and on in a loop none of me previous windows install have looped on me like this The simplest solutions are the best and they are often save you money

Reply: (edit)Make it easy on yourself. Just boot to the CD and when prompted, delete all partitions and create a new one for the Windows 2K install, (Figure 9 according to that site) partitioning as you wish and making the partition NTFS. Then format the partition and run through the install. You can partition/format any remaining space after booting into Windows. Life is more painless for those who are brainless.
