2000 Server Drives Lost

I'm in trouble and need some help! My Veritas backup tape drive was not operating properly, so I decided to remove the program and reinstall it.
Then life got really bad. When I tried to install using the CD-ROM drive, the server does not see the (E) drive at all. I reboot the server, and get the following message: "Secondary Hard Disk Drive 0 not found."
Now, I am really in a bad creek. Anyone have a paddle?

No, I haven't opened the server up. Maybe I should. Everything was fine, no changes to the system, no new software, no configuration changes, anti-virus updated and running 24/7 before all this. So, I don't know how something on the inside (hardware) could be wrong, but I appreciate the thought.

Mark,
Thank you! I decided to shut down the server and open it up just to make sure the cables were ok. I didn't see anything wrong, just touched and pushed in the right places, and per her back together. When I brought it back up, the E: drive and the tape drive were both responding. I am now reinstalling my backup software.
