I have a Memorex CRW-1622 CD re-writer running in windows 2000 Professional. Since installing 2000 Pro, the drive cannot be used to write to standard or re-writable cd's. There are no drivers for 2000 or other operating systems listed on the memorex website or any other drivers site. Any ideas except for dumping 2000?

Did you check to see if the CD writing software that you are using is compatable with win 2k?Maybe it is your software and not the drive itself that is the problem.

Nero 5.0.1.8 and

You will need Adaptec EasyCD 4.02c and DirectCD 3.1. Along with an update disk that is from Adaptec. Seems everyone has the same issue. If you just install 4.02, it will nuke your CD access altogether.

They are both together in a CD pack from Adaptec along with some Picture editor software and TakeTWO backup stuff.

I had to break-own and buy them do to this issue.
And no, the version at CompUSA didn't work so, don't waste the $69 ;-)

Hope this helps...

thanks all for the informative comments. It turned out to be the software, as suggested. NTIus wanted 25 pounds to upgrade the oem version that was bundled with the cd. Cheek. Am now using Neroburn, as suggested above. The help was much appreciated. Cheers all

Have you been able to enable all users to burn cd's besides the administrator in windowss 2000 Pro? I can't get it to work without running as admin.
