I work for a company that uses Win 2k servers wich allowes the other computers in the company to access the network and internet. When the computers are turned on they ask for ctrl+alt+del and then the password and login name for every pc and user. I am trying to set up some computers that will only be used for internet access from anyone in the company who doesnt have a pc. The only problem is i want them to automaticly login when turned on. I need to konw if there is a way around the login when the computer is part of the damain and the domain is auto force feeding the computer the security settings. Any suggestions??

There are ways to block machines in an OU from inheriting policies from higher level OU's or a domain. However, in this case, the easiest solution would be to disjoin the "internet access" pc's from the domain, join them to a workgroup, and then apply what's in this article:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=234562#appliesto
As the article points out "Automatic logon is not supported when you are logging on to a domain. You will need to join a workgroup if you want to use the automatic logon feature."
You can still "lock down" those machines using local group policy objects (a good idea). Since the pc's will be physically connected to your network, they will get an IP address and network services needed to get out to the Web. They just wont's be able to reach networked printers if they are restricted to authenticated users, or shared folders on the network.

Hello,
Open the registry... START -- RUN -- REGEDIT and click on OK. Browse to the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon
Add or modify the following:
1) Add a new string value named 'DefaultUserName' and set it to the username you wish to automatically logon as.
2) Add a new string value named 'DefaultPassword' and set this to the password for the user entered above.
3) Add a new string value named 'DefaultDomainName' and set this to the domain of the user. Ignore this value if the NT box is not participating in NT Domain security.
4) Add a new string value named 'AutoAdminLogon' and set it to either '1' to enable auto logon or '0' to disable it.
5) For Windows 22k the ForceAutoLogon setting must be enabled to prevent it from resetting on reboot.
Also note that if the DontDisplayLastUserName value is enabled, the auto logon feature does not function.
RISK: The password is stored in the registry which means it is viewable by everyone... its stored in clear text.
?'s email me....
