I have 2 services.exe listed in my taskmanager. One is running at 99 CPU and slowing my system down and the other is running at 0. Can someone tell me what is going on and how I may limit this memory (and performance) hog.

Thanks,

Bill

Well I looked in my Processes area on the task manager and I only have one "Services.exe" and it is only running 6,804K. Sounds like you may have a big problem.

Alright, the following is not an official page but to my understanding, many services will run as "services.exe". Therefore, the problem could lie in one specific service. To find out, you'll have to stop & start them one by one. Here's a list:

http://www.blackviper.com/WIN2K/servicecfg.htm

Services can be started/stopped/configured by going to [Start --> Control Panel --> Administrative Tools --> Services]. Be careful and don't change the way they are loaded. If they are loaded automatically for example, don't change that unless you discover which service is causing the problem. If a service is stopped, don't touch it, and concentrate on the ones that are already running. If by stopping a service you end up having an unstable system, restart the computer and continue with the next service until you find it. Once you do, you can repost here so we can work out how to solve it.

Good luck!

Andrés
