Hi
I tried to install 2 network cards on my w2k System. The system sometimes crashes, because I like to configure one Card at fix IP for internal Network and the other card to configure on DHCP to connect over cable Modem to internet. Is this possible or not. On winxp I know it is working but I have also to do it on w2k Machine. Maybe with router,,,, However thanks for any help.
Francis

It should work fine, crashes are usually a problem with drivers or software not being win2k compatible or install/config wrong.

HI
The Problem appeared is very strange. I can connect one cable on each time the corresponding Network card and on DHCP it is always working but only if I connect the Cable Modem. The second Network--> internal Network with fix IP never works. Even Ping doesn’t work. On the fix address even on the status there is no send and no receive package. I also double check that Sub mask on both PC was 255.255.255.0 and IP on one Computer was 192.168.0.1 and on the other one 192.168.0.2. On Firewall I gave free does Ip addresses, and still he isn’t sending any Packages. On 192.168.0.1 I connected a 3th Computer but only with 1 Network Card with IP 192.168.0.3 and it was working right away.
Thanks for suggestion
Francis

I may be completey wrong here so let me know if I am. This sounds like a routing problem.
Type the following from a command line "route add 192.168.0.1 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1"
Hope this helps

Hi I tried....
Here the Status of today:
PC 1 win xp 2 network cards first card DHCP configured connected to Cable network the second card used for internal Network IP 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0 Gateway: empty
PC2 W2k 2 network cards first cards DHCP configured connected to Cable network the second card used for internal network IP 192.168.0.2 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway: 192.168.0.1
PC3 w2k 1 network cards used for internal network IP 192.168.0.3 mask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.0.1
PC 1 and 3 working properly. This on internal Network but also on the Internet over Win xp
PC 2 the second cards planned for internal network does not send and receive any package. even ping does not work. I tried on “cmd” Line to enter "route add 192.168.0.1 mask 0.0.0.0 192.168.0.1" also replaced "route add 192.168.0.1 mask 255.255.255.0 192.168.0.1" but did not work.
A basic Question: It looks like the w2k don't know in what case to use network card 1 for Internet and card 2 for internal network. How can I define it that I minimum can ping each Computer over the Internal Network?
How does I need to set on win xp the configuration the Network on this Computer? The way with the HUB because to acces from PC3 on Internet I need this. Does it also work for second PC? Maybe I have to rethink the Network Hardware configuration. If yes How do you recommend to do it?Thanks for suggestion.
Francis
